When Bidding on Free Agents PLEASE make a new thread for each player in the respected position forums.
RFA
-If a player is a RFA the team that owns his rights can tender him at a certain set compensation level. That level is up to that team. As the tender goes up, so does the price.
-Restricted Free Agents Tenders
$927,000 - Determined by RFA's original draft status (3rd and Below)
$1,417,000 - 2nd
$2,017,000 - 1st
$2,562,000 - 1st and 3rd
-Offer sheet example: The Chargers offer Michael Turner the 1st round tender. If teams are willing to give up a 1st round pick as compensation, they can try their luck at getting Turner.
-Lets say the Bills need a RB, so they offer turner a 5 year, $15M deal. SD can either match that offer, and pay Turner $15M over 5 years, OR they can let him go to Buffalo and get that 1st round pick as compensation.
-If nobody were to bid on Turner during the RFA period, the chargers would have him under contract for 1 year at the tendered Price
- Players signed between $.4M to $4M teams can offer contracts upwards to 4 years.
- Players signed between $4.1M and above can offer contracts upwards to 5 years.
- Player bonus is the same as UFA bracket. See below
-Bidding on untendered players will work the same as UFA bidding, See Below.
UFA
-There is no limit on how many players you sign in FA (be aware of the 53 man roster and the $116M salary cap)
- Starting bids will start at 300,000
- Bid increases will be 50,000 until a player reached the 1,000,000 mark. Then the bid increase is 100,000
-Teams CAN NOT retract a bid. If a bid is placed you cannot pull out of that current bid
-Teams CAN NOT go back and edit their previous bids. A new bid/post must be created. If we see this your edited bid will be deleted
- Players signed between $.4M to $4M teams can offer contracts upwards to 4 years.
- Players signed between $4.1M and above can offer contracts upwards to 6 years.
- Each signed player will be subjected to a bracket of salary.
- If you guys are confused about the numbers; the first number is the initial bid you make in UFA. The 2nd number is the added salary of your bid, it will go according to the bracket.
1. $400,000-$1M (No Bonus)
2. $1.1M-$2M ($.25M per year)
3. $2.1M-$3M ($.30M per year)
4. $3.1M-$4M ($.40M per year)
5. $4.1M-$5M ($.50M per year)
6. $5.1M-$6M ($.80M per year)
7. $6.1M-$7M ($1M per year)
8. $7.1M-$8M ($1.5M per year)
9. $8.1M-$9M ($2M per year)
10. $9.1M-$10M ($3M per year)
11. $10.1M-$XM ($4M per year)
- Once a player has been signed the following bonus figures will be added onto the total salary.
- Example: You signed a player for $2 million; it will now be $2.25M per year. The contract falls into the bracket of bonus worth $1 Million thus the $.25 added on.
- If you want to sign a player and not to the max contract you will have to use the 2nd number and multiply the years of the contract to determine the new bonus.
- Example: $7M player but I want 3 years. It would be $1Mx3. New contract would look like $7M ($1M per year) ($3M). |
